TINUBU’s RENEWED HOPE AGENDA
Tackling insecurity in Nigeria through the use of information and modern technology requires a comprehensive approach that addresses both the root causes of insecurity and the specific challenges faced by different regions and communities.
Let me quickly make references to some prominent Nigerians in their prominent submission.
Oladipupo Dopamu, a cybersecurity expert, suggests that Nigeria needs to invest more in intelligence gathering and technology to improve situational awareness and response capabilities. He emphasizes the potential of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) and Machine Learning to enhance security framework
Prof. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, identifies integrated digital technology as crucial in combating Nigeria’s insecurity. Technologies like autonomous drones, satellite, AI video surveillance, and social networking platforms are important to support law enforcement agencies
The use of Emergency Communication Systems, GPS-enabled devices, Social Networking Tools, emergency-operation centers (EOCs), Intelligent Monitoring systems, Data Mining, and Database Tracking systems can greatly improve the security agencies’ ability to combat challenges in Nigeria.
A proposed approach includes the use of a Central Database as a backbone model serving as a central point of reference for all law enforcement agencies to fight insecurities and crimes in Nigeria.
Security, military, and law enforcement are my areas of expertise, I can state categories of how insecurity can be tackled in Nigeria which is about leadership, we must address individuals and societal trapping of leadership.
It is a matter of looking at leadership or security from the prism of the next man or woman and ignoring oneself. Taking oneself out of the equation makes it enticingly possible to blame others but identify oneself as the victim. Once you see yourself as a victim (which is the prevailing case in Nigeria) you are surrendered. Done!
Place oneself in the count toward a sense of security by which your love and relationship, vocation, time and money management, and health well-being coalesce individual harmony as a citizen. These four quadrants of life are reflective of the interest and enthusiasm which are the ingredients of life.
When you are trapped in the idea of seeing your position of leadership and others as leaders, you miss the point that everything begins within you and your reflection is projected outward. The ordinary regular man or woman embodies and exemplifies leadership. So, the ordinary man or woman chooses to ignore their power of metaphysical faculties of perception, imagination, intuition, reasoning, will, and memory does not realize their growth potential. The feeling of insecurity is the cumulative creation of individuals who are imposing burdens on others and the national consciousness. When individuals discover the collective posture of power of their sense of awareness the group effort equally promotes confidence in leadership and security.
The issue of security from the denial of self-identification of individual responsibilities.
The majority of those in positions of authority have not been properly trained to handle the duties, obligations, or responsibilities from a personal stance. Rather, they are in a bubble of make-believe or pass on the blame. Many see themselves solely by the position built on ego of the benefits a position offers. Many raised to see money for its prestige not as a spiritual energy are oblivion to the opposition that ill-gotten money makes one insecure. You become more dismayed each time you misuse the position you have been entrusted.
The top-heavy mindset imposes its control over every other person and everything. The mindset of insecurity, victimhood, and the rot of a citizen has been embedded as a cultural phenomenon so we don’t know how low we have been sucked into the abyss of insanity. Everyone looks to the top because it is how we have been programmed.
So, many of the writers or commentators are looking at the answers to the basic questions of how safe we are with the evolving technological advancements. It is based on the years of working with premier technologies for law enforcement that I noticed the simple approach of following a consistent building block based on the creative energy of our people to solve any problems we face.
Centralized index system technology
In terms of reliance on technology, we must not leave our faith in the building database of the central index system of tracking societal behavioral policy. We must recognize the significance of our various institutions from the families in the quarters of each village. Recognizing we are at the base and learning the good and bad provides the way forward.
The existence of the family structures creates a chance that everyone would be accounted for in the central index system of citizenship to create the national identity.
So, let us exploit the success our experience has brought us as creative individual leaders. In essence, the sense of insecurity of individuals does make national security because of the input in a centralized index system.
However scientific research reveals that the individual evolves from family to community policing are ways that people feel as a part of national security. So, following an advanced notion of technologies must include the already structures of governance from each family to the villages, towns, and cities.
Law enforcement and crime
I am not naïve about our mindset of selfishness which is how we are programmed to operate. With a balanced training of the best practices from our ancestors and incorporating the best models of technological advancement, we can formulate a way forward approach to enjoy effective leadership and security.
The advancement of technology in cell phones and solar (electricity) energy is the fuel of innovation. The average Nigerian has manifested chaos in the system that was designed to improve security in public lives. With the handset, you now have access to the global economy. But with nothing to contribute apart from being a consumer, we have fallen back on the evolving global security. The cell phone advancement of technology also creates destructive ways for all sorts of crime to proliferate.
Imagine a village where almost everyone from adolescence has at least one handset, they will have at least two or sim cards to connect with the various networks. In that same village, there is no single police officer. Few youth gangs are hooked up with syndicates via their cell phones. The closest police station, if any, is miles away at the local government center which was probably left there by the colonial masters. So, the issues of leadership and security are left in the hands of the traditional leader. We are in such a situation that was not designed for what we need in today’s society but for the security and protection of their colonial operations.
Must we continue to operate the police system of the colonial era which was designed to protect the government of the time? So, leadership and security must be from the standpoint of individual responsibility which is knowing who we are as persons coalescing the balance of the four areas of life including love and relationship, vocation, time and money management, and health well-being.
We must back up advancement with maintenance, the kin eye of information management, and automation. We must preserve the longstanding system with evolving automation for things to work well. We must build reliance in molding spirited citizenship receptive to law-abiding like our people in the diaspora. Those of us in the diaspora had to start from the basics to learn about society’s norms. We learn about the rules of law and accept individual responsibilities before realizing that we are part of the system as leaders. Not imply that the other system is better than ours, but to invest in the best practice model for teaching individual responsibility. We build leadership and security based on our individuals living in harmony and not leaving ourselves at the mercy of someone out there to take care of us.
