‘Let us prevent the spread of Cholera’- Lagelu LCDA Boss tells Oyedeji Market Excos during visit

The Executive Members of the Oyedeji Market Men and Women Association paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Lagelu LCDA, Hon. Sodiq. O. Raji. The Association shared their pride for the meeting as an opportunity for development of the market and the LCDA.

In his address, Chief Ibiloye Ayobami, the Babaloja of Oyedeji said the market is an international commercial market in the Lagelu North with high patronage in every five days. But there are few challenges where he would want the government’s intervention which is the road leading to the market, Security for traffic control and offenders, building of toilets and renovation of some dilapidated shops.

Baboloja stressed that there is need to increase the market levy so as to boost the IGR of the LCDA.

Mrs Lawal Bosede, Alfa Kazeem spoke in the same vein seek corporation of the LCDA on trader’s safety in the market while Ogundele Sunday said Tippers should be banned on the market day to reckless driving during the market day.

In his response, the LCDA Boss urges the Exco to maintain high level of hygiene to prevent spread of cholera disease in the LCDA. He emphasize that the cholera epidemic has been reported in about 26 states in Nigeria and has claimed about 40 lives.

Hon. Sodiq emphasized the collective responsibility of the community in maintaining cleanliness. “Every hand must be on deck to prevent the outbreak of cholera in our LCDA, LG and the State. We must all take responsibility for our environment and ensure that we maintain a high level of hygiene.

This is crucial for the health and well-being of our community and that is a priority of Gov. Seyi Makinde”. He stated.

He said residents of Lagelu LCDA should be encouraged to actively participate in keeping their surroundings clean, an effort that requires widespread community involvement. He assured of dedicating a day which will be tagged as “Chairman’s cleaning Day”

While appreciating the Excos, Hon. Sodiq assured them that all request will be considered and he requested a tour to the market which was led by the Market Excos and the LCDA officials.
